As the U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving fast approaches and millions of Americans gather with friends and family let’s take a minute and be mindful of thankfulness. In the book of Psalms, chapter 100 the bible says,
2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Psalms 100:2-5, KJV
There are so many things I am especially thankful for. I’m thanking for my good health. I’m thankful for a sound mind. I’m thankful for a safe place to sleep and never having to worry about where my next meal is coming from. I’m super thankful for my mom being declared cancer free last month. Here is a timeless treasure of a worship hymn that came to me today…
Let this be our prayer today and this week as we busy about with holiday travel and gathering for turkey. Oh God, help us to enter your gates with thanksgiving. Help us to enter your courts with praise. Help us to be thankful for all your blessings today, this week, and for the rest of the year. Amen.
